Stripe-tastic!

I have never been one to wear stripes; I have been told that they make you look wider than what you really are. Bullsh*t I say...I like the way this looks!

Top: H&M
Trouser Jeans: Target
Leopard Print Shoes: Dillard's
Necklace: Dillard's
Bracelet: JCPenney
Red lips brought to you by Revlon Matte in Really Red
I have been seeing the red lip trend all over the place and wanted to give it a try. I know I should wear a "blue-based" red and this one got rave reviews. I am going to give it some time and see how things go...:)

Side note: I am obsessed with Lana Del Ray. Love her. Her album was just released today...cannot wait to download it. Rock on girlfriend with ya' gold tooth.

Blue Lipstick: Blue Based Red Lipstick

Do you have the PERFECT shade of red for your skintone? I have struggled for a long time to find the right shade for my "cool" undertones...this article was interesting.

I picked up the Really Red by Revlon Matte last night...wish me luck!

Blue Lipstick: Blue Based Red Lipstick: While blue lipstick on its own is not packing a great deal of popularity, the blue pigment on the other hand, plays a major part in making...

Elements of Fushia and Turquoise

I have never been a fan of Old Navy; the last time I shopped there, I was in high school. I gave up on them for a while because the fabrics were so thin and would fall apart after one washing. However, I have been reading a lot of fashion blogs where the women have purchased some great looking pieces from Old Navy; items ranging from dresses to layering pieces.

With that being said, I took a peek around their website and found several pieces I was interested in. Here is one of them:

This top was originally $30...but I scored it for $5!!
JCPenney (I think)
I think I got this from JCPenney as well.

For $74, I got 3 dresses, 1 pair of pants and 5 tops! WOW! Have you picked up anything that you love from Old Navy? I am open for suggestions...

Product Review: Hip Nipper

A few weeks ago while combing the racks at Ross, I came across an item called the "Hip Nipper." I thought this would be a beneficial item to add to my wardrobe since I have a few tops that still fit but are a bit too short for my liking:

This was the only color they had in my size but thought it would add a pop of color, so I grabbed it.
I got an XL; it is pretty true to sizing.
For $4.99, how could I go wrong?
I had to wear it right at the top of my hips...any higher and it rolls down.
I like the way my butt looks in it!

I even tried it with a camp that is a bit too short...and works pretty well.
The only down side I could see (well not really that bad) is when you are sitting and get up, you will most likely have to re-adjust. Other than that, it is a nice addition to my wardrobe! Check out your local Ross!

Thrift Store Score: Ann Taylor Peep Toe Wedges

I took my Dad (a.k.a. "The XY Chromosome" or "Parental Unit") out today to take care of some errands and somehow I ended up at one of my FAVE places...the Goodwill Boutique in Winter Park. I dropped off some donations around back and took a quick peek inside (knowing that Dad's shopping threshold is about 5 minutes.) Lucky for me, I found these as soon as I hit the shoe rack...and a size 8.5? Perfect.

Upon further inspection, I noticed that these were NEVER EVEN WORN!!!! For $19.99 plus a 10% senior citizen discount (thanks Dad!), I was a happy girl.

Good as gold...but can she rap?

Necklace: Steinmart (sorry for the extreme brightness here; I am trying out some new features on my Mac)
Ring: Steinmart and Kohls...shit, I need some lotion.
Gold ball earrings: I have never been into stud earrings but decided to give it a try
Shoes: Marshall's- these are my "if I click 3 times, will I be taken away" shoes.
Not sure what the floppy thing is on the side of my head, but I like it.

OK, let's go back to 1993 for a sec;  picture a 1979 Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme that was 3 shades of grey with red leather bench seats and a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl rapping the song below. Enter the random music video circa high school:

The answer is yes, I can rap.

Ok, so the Packers lost...

...but I feel like I had a great make-up and hair day anyhow. That is my Super Bowl win.

Recipe: Beef and Potato Pot Pie

I am killin' it in the kitchen this week.

1.25lb ground beef
3 small potatoes
1 onion
1 bag frozen mixed veggies
1 jar beef gravy
1 pkg pie refrigerated pie crusts
Dice up the potatoes and finely chop the onions...sprinkle w/ salt & pepper if desired
Cook in frying pan for about 7 minutes just to get them a little brown
Brown the ground beef
I am too impatient for the frozen veggies to thaw so I run them under hot water...it works.
Mix up all items in a bowl and add the jar of gravy
Press one pie crust into glass pie plate
Dump in beef mixture
Press and seal edges of second crust and slice a few slits on top
Bake at 375 for an hour (you can tell "someone" is ready to eat!)

Enjoy!

Recipe: Onion Crusted Meatloaf w/ Roasted Potatoes

I felt a little inspiration today to make dinner for hubby and I tonight:

1 can condensed tomato soup
1.5lbs ground beef
1 can (2.8 ounces) French's Fried Onions
1 egg
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (I used BBQ sauce)
6 small potatoes, cut into quarters
Mix 1/2 cup soup, beef, 1/2 can onions, egg and Worcestershire sauce (I used BBQ sauce). Place in 13x9x2-inch baking pan and form into an 8x4 loaf. Spoon remaining 1/2 can soup over the loaf. Chop potatoes into small squares and place around the loaf.
Bake at 400 degrees for 1 hour or until meatloaf is cooked through. Stir potatoes. Sprinkle the remaining friend onions over the loaf and bake for additional 3 minutes or until golden on top.
Hubby gave me 2 thumbs up. Recipe brought to me by www.campbellskitchen.com!

Hubby Names His Hair Style

Early afternoon...

Me: Hi babe, what are you up to?
Hubby: I am going to get my hair trimmed.
Me: Ok, what look are you going for?
Hubby: I really want a mullet.
Me: Uh, no you don't. And if you come home with one, I will shave your hair off in the middle of the night. I am sure you know I am not joking.
Hubby: I need to find a way to manage my hair while it grows out. (I am stunned that this even came out of his mouth.)

Later that night...

Me: Wow, the stylist did a nice job. Your hair looks good.
Hubby: Thanks, I call it the "Stim Cut" for men.
Me: (blank stare)
Hubby: Yeah, I needed a trim to stimulate hair growth. So that is what I am calling it.
Me: (same blank stare)

In retrospect, it makes sense.

The Manicure Saver

I hate hate hate when my nail polish starts to chip off my nails a day after I paint them...argh! Though I look like a grade school cafeteria lady, I love wearing rubber gloves when I am washing dishes. I have found that my nail color lasts a few days longer this way. Plus, as an added bonus, the glasses don't slip out of my hand as easily as they used to!

I picked this pair up from Marshall's for $3.99
I grabbed these from the Dollar Tree
Side note: I got the color from CVS a few weeks ago for $1
Before I ripped the sticker off, the name on the bottle was simply "10." CVS is the only place I have seen this brand polish.
