Dollar Tree Score! L'Oreal HIP Lip Gloss

I have been using this brand of color gloss for a while now...and would always pay FULL PRICE (gasp!). On a trip over the weekend to my local Dollar Tree, I came across these and grabbed all the colors I could. These glosses are nice and thick but not sticky; the color is fantastic and lasts a loooooong time!

#724 Astounding
#636 Giddy
#258 Mystical
#148 Precious
I love the Dollar Tree...seriously.

6/25/11: Make-Up and Jewelry

I hit a major clearance sale on jewelry (and other items of course!) at Ann Taylor Loft yesterday. This necklace was originally $34.50, marked down to $29.99 and finally to $9.88. It was a FINAL SALE and to add to my excitement, all clearance and final sale items were an additional 40% off.

I paid just under $6 for this piece...WOO HOO!!!!!!

I found this fantastic blog called Temptalia (http://www.temptalia.com) which is filled with make-up product reviews and step-by-step tutorials. I need a lot of help when it comes to my color blending techniques so this website was a godsend!
For this look, I used a few colors from my BH Cosmetics 120-Color Pallet (http://www.bhcosmetics.com). I started with a cream eye base from Ulta, pink all over the lid and a bright purple in the crease. I used a magenta in the corners to make a V shape and amethyst eyeliner from Wet N' Wild. I finished off the look with black lengthening mascara from Maybelline.

I got a few compliments today....feeling pretty fly I must say...:)

Local Eats: Dylan's Deli in Winter Park FL

Mom and I were out running errands this afternoon around Orlando and decided to try a new place for lunch. We stopped in at Dylan's Deli in Winter Park and WOW...I am so glad we did!

I was not sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu was a fusion of French and Spanish cuisine. The inside was small and quaint and felt very comfortable.

I had the Paris on French Bread sandwich: ham, turkey, herb butter, asiago, chopped dill pickels.

Mom and the owner, Arnaud. What a super nice guy!
If you are in the area, you need to stop by this place. You will not be disappointed! They also have happy hour and special events...check them out!

Outfit of the Day: 6/24/11 + Make-Up + Jewelry

Top: JCPenney
Shorts: Gap
Sandals: Ross
Necklace and Earrings: DIY
My sister in law sent this to me a few years ago as they were travelling through Thailand.

I made this necklace out of sterling silver, Chinese crystals and prehnite gemstones.

I have been using a bronze colored foundation from Lacura  instead of powder (my cheeks are dry so the powder just sits there...yucko!)
I wanted to show the bronze color on my cheeks.
(Please excuse the bags under my eyes!!)

Product Review: Cover Girl Lip Perfection Lipstick

Yesterday, I read about a new line of lipstick from Cover Girl called Lip Perfection. After reading the extensive review, I was pretty excited about finding some sought-after-hard-to-obtain colors that would compliment my skin tone:

naked lips

Cover Girl Lip Perfect in 205 Smolder
with lipstick
Color 205 Smolder is a pinkish/nude color that really compliments my skin tone. I thought I could not wear ANYTHING even close to pink! YAY!

This formula is quite moisturizing but not shiny; it is more creamy than anything. When I was picking out the color I wanted to try, I noticed that there is a wide variety of colors to choose from. I am going back to grab a few more colors...maybe I can finally score the "perfect red" if it exists!

Outfit of the Day: 6/23/11 + Jewelry + Make-Up

Denim Skirt- Ann Taylor
V-neck T-Shirt- Banana Republic
Bow Wedges- Payless
JCPenney

Trade show in NC
I don't have much luck w/ powder bronzer. After reading a blog posting about using a bronze colored liquid foundation instead, I decided to give it a try. Love it...seriously.
(I use Lacura liquid make-up.)

Recipe: Ham & Cheese Muffins

I had been searching for a ham and cheese muffin recipe since having one a few weeks ago. I am not good at "recreating" recipes so I was excited when I came across this recipe from cooks.com:

Ham & Cheese Muffins

1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 egg
1 1/2 c. Bisquick
3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 c. fully cooked smoked ham, chopped
1/3 c. green pepper, chopped
1/3 c. onion, chopped

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease and flour 12 medium muffin cups, 2 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches. Beat milk, oil and egg slightly in large bowl; stir in remaining ingredients with fork until moistened. Divide batter evenly among cups. Bake until golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.

Here are how mine came out:
I just scarfed 2 of these muffins down...so easy and so yummmmmm!!!

Time to Get Organized!

I knew it was time for me to get organized with my store coupons when I resorted to using paper envelopes, cramming them into my purse, and having them rip apart on a weekly basis. I found this plastic coupon organizer at Big Lots for $2:

I am ready to go!

Make-Up Review: Lacura Cosmetics

Lacura is a make-up line that is created in Germany and is carried in Aldi stores here in the United States. I decided to try a few new products to see how I like them:
foundation, pressed powder, volume mascara, lipstick and eye cream
I have been using their line of eye cream for the past few years and love it:
The foundation is fragrance-free which is the only kind that seems to play nice with my skin. It comes in 4 colors; I use "transparent."

The volume mascara is really nice; the brush is large and has nice sized spaces in between the bristles of the brush so the mascara does not clump. (if you see clumps on me, it is purely user-error).
The finished look:

The best part? These cosmetics will not break the bank...they were $3.49 each!! YEE HOO!

Local Eats: Four Rivers BBQ in Winter Park, FL

A friend of mine (who I will now refer to as "BBQ Babe Char") recommended hubby and I try Four Rivers BBQ; she told me that is was the best BBQ ever so we decided to try it this afternoon for lunch:

Fairbanks Ave in Winter Park, FL
My plate: BBQ pulled pork w/ mac n' cheese, beans, coconut cupcake (I took 1/2 home for dinner).
They had a big selection of old fashioned drinks and a lot of brands I have never heard of...like this one which was delicious!
His plate: BBQ brisket, full rack o' ribs, mac n' cheese, sweet potato casserole, corn and cornbread.
We got lucky; the line is normally over 45 minutes long and extends all the way down the street!
This was the best BBQ that I have ever had..way to go BBQ Babe Char!
